About this site

What Tribunal Watch is, and isn't

Tribunal Watch is a structured, cross-cut index of employment tribunal decisions in England, Wales and Scotland — built from the primary record published on gov.uk.

Every judgment indexed here is sourced from the public listing at gov.uk/employment-tribunal-decisions. Source PDFs are Crown Copyright, reproduced under the Open Government Licence v3.0. The site is independent of HM Courts & Tribunals Service and the Ministry of Justice. Nothing on it is legal advice.

Methodology

New judgments are pulled from gov.uk on a daily cadence. A deterministic first-pass extractor reads each PDF to pin down the structured essentials: case reference, decision date, judge, venue, claimant, respondents, claim types, and any monetary award. A second-pass extraction lifts per-claim outcomes, key findings, and the legal tests the tribunal applied — that pass is now complete across the archive (bar a small number of scanned or unreadable judgments), so claim outcomes and the reasoning the tribunal gave now appear on case pages alongside the first-pass essentials.

Respondent names are normalised and, where confident, matched to Companies House records so that "Tesco Stores Ltd", "TESCO STORES LIMITED" and "Tesco Stores" all roll up to a single employer entry with a stable URL.

What this site is not

It is not a court record system, a legal-research database, or a source of authoritative case citations — for any of those, the gov.uk PDF linked from each case page is the authoritative document and should be cited directly. It is not a tool for individual claimants to find a representative or estimate a likely award. It is not a list of "bad employers" — appearing as a respondent is a neutral fact, and outcomes vary widely.
