The respondent said the reason was redundancy arising from a COVID-19-related downturn in work. The tribunal accepted the respondent's evidence that the business faced a significant loss of turnover, consulted the workforce in June 2020, and then consulted the claimant about the proposed reduction from two electricians to one. The claimant was scored against JP on criteria including disciplinary record, attendance, lateness, performance, length of service and qualifications, and he scored 26 to JP's 28.
