Key findings
Tribunal's reasoningThe tribunal determined as a preliminary issue whether the claimant was disabled within section 6 of the Equality Act 2010. The claimant relied on depression and anxiety, said to have been aggravated after the death of his brother, and alleged direct and indirect disability discrimination in connection with conduct and procedures during employment and subsequent redundancy.
The tribunal accepted the claimant's evidence and supporting medical material that his depression and anxiety substantially affected normal day-to-day activities, particularly sleep, fatigue, mood and ability to attend work on time. It found that medication, counselling and other support were relevant to the assessment of substantial adverse effect.
The tribunal concluded that the claimant was disabled by reason of the mental impairment of depression and anxiety from 19 March 2023 until 18 September 2024. The matter was relisted for a further case management hearing to address outstanding case management.

How we got this data
Case essentials (reference, date, judge, venue, country, claim categories) are extracted from the structured metadata gov.uk publishes alongside each decision. Parties and monetary figures are extracted from the judgment PDF text. Key findings and per-claim outcomes require a second extraction pass that is not yet complete for this case — until then, the primary source linked above is the authoritative record.
