The tribunal sat at London South before Employment Judge C Hyde, sitting alone. The respondent filed no response, made no representations and did not attend. On the papers and the claimants' emails, the tribunal accepted the claimants' accounts and calculations largely as accurate and made declarations of unlawful deduction from wages, ordering repayment forthwith.

For Miss S Grey, the tribunal awarded £4,798.00 gross for salary, wages and commission, and £170.90 for expenses incurred between 9 July and 8 August 2018. For Miss E Chegwidden, it found that £2,021.73 gross remained outstanding for wages for 30 July to 10 September 2018 after allowing for her agreed unpaid first week and crediting two payments of £90.00 and £50.00, and it awarded £432.89 for travel expenses and cleaning products purchased with the respondent's authority.

In reaching the figures, the tribunal relied on the Indeed advertisement and interview evidence to find that Miss Chegwidden had been led to believe, and then confirmed, a salary of £25,000 per annum, from which it calculated her entitlement for 29 days' work. It also accepted the travel-card documentation and WhatsApp messages relating to the expenses claim, and relied on the commission-rate document for Miss Grey, treating commission at £35.00 per day for 30 appointments per day and taking account of the August Bank Holiday.
