He was contracted for 14 hours over 2 days each week at a gross hourly rate of £9 at the respondent’s Blackburn premises. Although payslips were issued, the claimant said he received no pay during his employment. He presented his claim on 26 January 2024 after early conciliation. The respondent was re-served at its registered office, did not present a response, and did not indicate that it was resisting the claims.
The tribunal found the complaint of unlawful deduction from wages well founded. It awarded £249.75 for 18 November to 29 November 2023, £585.00 for 30 November to 29 December 2023, and £63.00 for 1 January to 3 January 2024, making £897.75 in total for unpaid wages.
