Key findings
Tribunal's reasoningThe respondent did not present a response to the claim by 26 August 2020, or at all. The tribunal therefore treated the hearing as a final hearing under Rules 21 and 48 of the Employment Tribunal Rules of Procedure 2013 and recorded that the claim succeeded.
The claimant had been employed from 1989 until his dismissal without notice on 20 March 2020. The tribunal held that the dismissal was in breach of contract in respect of notice and ordered the respondent to pay notice pay. It used the claimant's wage for the financial year ending April 2019, £32,126.45, to calculate notice pay at £7,413.79.
The tribunal also found that the respondent had failed to pay the claimant's holiday entitlement. It held that the claimant was entitled to 14 days' holiday pay and awarded £1,456.00, calculated at £13 per hour for 8 hours a day of a 40-hour basic week. The total ordered to be paid was £8,869.79.

How we got this data
Case essentials (reference, date, judge, venue, country, claim categories) are extracted from the structured metadata gov.uk publishes alongside each decision. Parties and monetary figures are extracted from the judgment PDF text. Key findings and per-claim outcomes require a second extraction pass that is not yet complete for this case — until then, the primary source linked above is the authoritative record.
