Mr P Lisiecki v Dough & Co Woodfired Pizza Ltd — 2025

At the hearing on 5 February 2025 at Watford by CVP, neither party attended. The tribunal recorded that this was the second hearing in a row at which neither side had appeared, and that there had been no contact from either party for some months. The notice of hearing and joining instructions had been sent to both parties, and the claimant had not provided a telephone number for the tribunal to use.

The judge also noted that several orders previously made in the case had not been complied with. Although the claimant had given a monetary value for the claim form, he had not explained how that figure had been calculated. The judge further observed that the respondent named in the proceedings did not appear to be a company name, and that there was doubt as to the correct identity of the respondent, including whether any similar-sounding company was the claimant's employer.

In those circumstances, and without any attendance or explanation from either party, the tribunal dismissed the claim under rule 47 for failure to attend the hearing. The judgment does not determine the merits of any substantive employment claim and records no remedy.
