Key findings
Tribunal's reasoningRegional Employment Judge Foxwell determined this default judgment in Cambridge after the respondent (which had ceased trading and was facing strike-off) did not enter a response or participate. The claimant Mr T Skinner had been employed as a printer from 14 January 2008 to 31 August 2023 when the business closed suddenly.
The Tribunal found that the claimant was dismissed by reason of redundancy and entitled to a statutory redundancy payment of £8,653.85 under section 163 ERA 1996. He was also entitled to 12 weeks' statutory notice pay (£6,823.04), reduced to £5,130.96 after credit for £1,792.08 received. Damages of £3,200 were awarded for failure to make employer pension contributions between March 2016 and the date of dismissal.
The holiday pay claim was dismissed on its withdrawal as payments on account had extinguished it. No award was made for loss of statutory rights as employment would have ended in any event due to closure, and no ACAS uplift was available because no relevant Code applies to redundancies. The grand total awarded was £16,984.81.

How we got this data
Case essentials (reference, date, judge, venue, country, claim categories) are extracted from the structured metadata gov.uk publishes alongside each decision. Parties and monetary figures are extracted from the judgment PDF text. Key findings and per-claim outcomes require a second extraction pass that is not yet complete for this case — until then, the primary source linked above is the authoritative record.
