Key findings
Tribunal's reasoningThis was a preliminary hearing before Employment Judge Manley at Watford by CVP on 20 August 2020. The claimant was Mr N Mathew and the respondent was North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. No lay members were listed, so the hearing was judge-alone. The tribunal dealt only with preliminary issues and did not determine the merits of the unfair dismissal claim.
The tribunal struck out the claim for detriment because of having made a public interest disclosure on the basis that it was out of time, and said it had no jurisdiction to hear it. It also struck out the claim for automatically unfair dismissal because of having made a public interest disclosure, finding that claim had no reasonable prospect of success under Rule 37 of the Employment Tribunal Rules 2013.
For the ordinary unfair dismissal claim, the tribunal held that it had little reasonable prospect of success. It therefore ordered the claimant to pay a deposit of £1,000 by 10 September 2020 as a condition of that claim proceeding to the one-day hearing listed by agreement for 30 July 2021. No final liability or compensation award was made in this decision.

How we got this data
Case essentials (reference, date, judge, venue, country, claim categories) are extracted from the structured metadata gov.uk publishes alongside each decision. Parties and monetary figures are extracted from the judgment PDF text. Key findings and per-claim outcomes require a second extraction pass that is not yet complete for this case — until then, the primary source linked above is the authoritative record.
