Tribunal's reasoningThe Claimant did not attend the preliminary hearing on 7 August 2025 and had not returned the hearing agenda required in advance. The Tribunal clerk telephoned him, left a voicemail, and re-sent the joining instructions after he had not joined by 10.00 am.
The Claimant had emailed the Respondent's solicitors the day before, saying he did not have time because he had a lot of jobs, referred to rent and children, and said he had been thrown out without any investigation or opportunity to defend himself. By 10.20 am there had still been no response. Employment Judge Glennie concluded that the Claimant's failure to communicate and attend indicated that he did not intend to pursue the claim, and dismissed it under Rule 47.
