Mr L Jarmalavicius v Ridley Management Services Ltd (in creditors voluntary liquidation) — 2025

Employment Judge Taft heard the case by CVP at Watford on 23 June 2025. The claimant, Mr L Jarmalavicius, appeared in person and the respondent, Ridley Management Services Ltd (in creditors voluntary liquidation), did not attend. The judgment records that reasons were given orally at the hearing.

The tribunal found the complaint of unauthorised deductions from wages in respect of unpaid salary well-founded. It held that the respondent had made an unauthorised deduction from the claimant's wages in the period 1 February 2024 to 4 August 2024 and ordered payment of £25,604.68, described as the gross sum deducted. The claimant was to give credit for the net sum of £2,362.56 already received from the Insolvency Service in respect of arrears of pay.

The separate complaint of unauthorised deductions from wages in respect of pension contributions was not well-founded. The tribunal found those deductions were authorised by a statutory provision.

Both breach of contract complaints succeeded. One related to lieu hours, for which the tribunal awarded £21,428.42 gross as damages, and the other related to expenses, for which it awarded £333.30 as damages. On the figures recorded in the judgment, the awards total £45,003.84 after credit for the Insolvency Service payment.
