Key findings
Tribunal's reasoningThe Claimant brought claims against the University of Leicester and individual respondents for direct race discrimination, race-related harassment and victimisation. The Tribunal recorded that he relied on nationality and ethnic origins for the race complaints. One direct discrimination complaint about an incident involving Terry Bailey and Andrew Permain was dismissed on withdrawal.
The Tribunal dismissed the remaining claims. It found that the challenged investigation was not malicious or mischievous, that the concerns raised about the Claimant had substance and were investigated reasonably and fairly, and that there were no facts from which it could infer that race had anything to do with the allegations, the decision to investigate or the way the investigation was conducted.
For harassment, the Tribunal found that the alleged shouting by Terry Bailey and Andrew Permain was not made out and, in any event, was not shown to relate to race. For victimisation, it accepted that the Claimant's earlier Tribunal claim was a protected act, but found that the November 2021 interview comments were not protected acts, that there was no evidential basis for a belief that he might bring further proceedings, and that the alleged treatment was not materially influenced by any protected act.

How we got this data
Case essentials (reference, date, judge, venue, country, claim categories) are extracted from the structured metadata gov.uk publishes alongside each decision. Parties and monetary figures are extracted from the judgment PDF text. Key findings and per-claim outcomes require a second extraction pass that is not yet complete for this case — until then, the primary source linked above is the authoritative record.
